Ricordare non basta
Personal poster
Illustrated poster created for April 25, the anniversary of Italy’s Liberation Day. The project comes from a family story connected to the Second World War and the memory of the Italian Resistance.
As a boy, my grandfather accidentally found himself in the middle of a Nazi raid at Malga Zonta and was lined up against a wall. He survived only because the commander decided not to execute him and sent him home.
The illustration turns this personal testimony into an image about memory as an active gesture. The wide-open eyes become an invitation to stay vigilant; the flowers represent the partisans who died for freedom; the smiling flower is my grandfather as a boy, innocent within a horror much larger than him.
The result is a civil and personal poster, suspended between family memory and collective memory. Because remembering is not enough: we must stay awake.
